Prince William’s historic decision: What it could mean for the monarchy

Prince William's historic decision: What it could mean for the monarchy

Prince William – who’s been trained to ensure the survival of the royal family – will lead a “changed” monarchy.

King Charles worried about Prince William and the future of the royal family.

The Prince of Wales, who’s one step closer to the throne, could break royal tradition with a key decision about his and Kate Middleton’s eldest son Prince George. Recently, royal biographer Angela Levin shared insights on a potentially historic decision by Prince William regarding his son, Prince George, which could significantly impact the royal family’s traditional roles.

A Break from Tradition? Historically, British monarchs have served in the armed forces, with the current king, Charles III, having spent time in both the Royal Navy and Air Force. This tradition has been seen as a rite of passage and a way to prepare future monarchs for their roles as heads of the armed forces. However, according to Levin, William might break from this tradition when it comes to Prince George.

In an interview with GB News host Eamonn Holmes, Levin revealed that William doesn’t necessarily want his son, Prince George, to serve in the armed forces. “He doesn’t feel it’s necessary,” Levin explained. This potential decision marks a significant shift in royal expectations and could redefine the monarchy’s relationship with the military.

A Modern Monarchy – Levin also suggested that William’s reign could bring other substantial changes. Unlike his father, who has a deep passion for religion and attends services regularly, William is less religious. “He does go once or twice a year. But he doesn’t have the same passion that Charles does,” Levin noted. This difference in religious fervour might influence how William approaches his duties as the Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

The Weight of the Crown – As Prince William prepares for his future role, King Charles III reportedly has concerns about his son’s readiness. An insider told Touch Weekly that Charles, battling cancer, often worries about whether William is prepared to take his place as king. This adds another layer of complexity to William’s anticipated reign, as he must balance his father’s expectations with his vision for a modern monarchy. Despite these concerns, William has demonstrated a strong commitment to his royal duties.

Implications for Prince George – If William decides that Prince George will not serve in the armed forces, it could have far-reaching implications for the young prince’s future. However, this decision could also reflect a more modern understanding of leadership. Prince William might believe that there are other ways for George to develop the qualities needed to be a successful monarch. By focusing on education, public service, and other preparation forms, William could ensure that George is well-equipped to lead without adhering to outdated traditions.

As the world watches the Prince of Wales’ journey to the throne, it is clear that his decisions will shape the future of the British monarchy. Whether it’s redefining military expectations for future monarchs or approaching his role with a modern perspective, William’s leadership will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact.

Prince George

The funny reason why Prince Harry & George were not photographed together

Prince Harry and George

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, is uncle to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Ever noticed the absence of Prince Harry and George in family pics? Turns out, it’s not what you think.

Imagine this: Prince Harry and Prince George, two iconic figures of the royal family, never caught on camera together. Strange, right? You might think there’s a juicy scandal behind it, but the real reason is surprisingly mundane. So, why the vanishing act? Royal insiders spilt the tea, suggesting it wasn’t due to any rift or animosity between the two. Nope, it all boiled down to some old-fashioned royal protocol.

Back in the day, when Harry was still the eligible bachelor of the monarchy, there was a concern. Imagine the headlines: “Bachelor Harry, Babysitting George.” It wouldn’t exactly scream ‘royal dignity,’ would it? So, to spare Harry the embarrassment of being forever portrayed as the eternal babysitter, the powers-that-be apparently kept him away from George in official photo ops. It sounds absurd, but hey, stranger things have happened in the palace!

Prince Harry recalled the moment he became an uncle for the first time when his brother Prince William and his wife Kate welcomed their first child, Prince George, in July 2013.

Writing in his book, Spare, the Duke of Sussex said: “I was an uncle. Willy and Kate had welcomed their first child, George, and he was beautiful. I couldn’t wait to teach him about rugby and Rorke’s Drift, flying and corridor cricket – and maybe give him a few pointers about how to survive life in the fishbowl.”

Speaking at a Sentebale event at the time, Harry said: “When I saw him [Prince George] he was crying as all babies do, but it’s fantastic to have a new member of the family. I hope my brother knows how expensive my babysitting charges will be.” When asked by the reporter what his mission as an uncle will be, he replied: “To make sure he has a good upbringing, to keep him out of harm’s way and make sure he has fun. The rest of it I leave up to the parents.”

Thankfully, times have changed, and so has Harry’s marital status. Now happily wedded and a father of two adorable children. While they may not have shared many snapshots together in the past, rest assured, there’s no bad blood between Uncle Harry and little George.

Prince William and Prince George’s childhood in comparison.

Prince William

Prince George is growing up — and looking a whole lot like his dad, Prince William!

Prince William’s son and the second in line to the throne, Prince George, turned 10 in 2023.

From his sandy hair to his bright smile, Prince George’s resemblance to Prince William around the same age is uncanny. But George isn’t the only one who twins with William. His 8-year-old sister Princess Charlotte also bears a striking resemblance to the Prince of Wales — and William once confused a picture of himself as a child with Charlotte during an outing in 2020.

Meanwhile, 5-year-old Prince Louis is often compared to his mom Princess Kate. “Everyone always comments on how Louis is the spitting image of Kate,” a friend said. “She loves it and thinks it’s very sweet — she often jokes that he’s the only one of her kids who actually looks like her!”

Prince William, 41, and his eldest son appear to share a tight bond, and George’s childhood mirrors his father’s in many ways. While school was the focus for a young William like it is for George today, King Charles and Princess Diana’s eldest son stepped out for both formal and fun events, from holidays with the rest of the royal family to theme park trips with his mother and brother, Prince Harry.

From the moment they welcomed their first son Prince George into the world, Prince William and Kate made it clear that they would be modern, hands-on parents. The couple has carved their own paths as 21st century royals, while also bearing in mind the importance of royal tradition. William and Kate have taken decisions that suit both them and their young children. When it comes to parenting, they have done things their way, but have been mindful to keep within the boundaries of royal expectations.

When Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Louis were born, it was evident that their upbringing would be different from their father William’s. Kate chose to follow in the footsteps of other royal mothers by giving birth to her children at the prestigious Lindo Wing of Saint Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, a place known for its top-notch medical care and luxurious amenities.

William and Kate proudly stood on the hospital steps with their newborn son George in July 2013, presenting him to the waiting press and the world. William even impressed onlookers by expertly strapping George into his car seat before driving his family back home himself. This was a notable departure from the traditional royal way, where parents were driven by a chauffeur.

After their brief stay in London, the family retreated to their sprawling ten-bedroom mansion, Anmer Hall, located in the idyllic countryside of Norfolk. Here, William and Kate raised their children in complete privacy, with ample green spaces for the children to play in and explore. Kate even took up gardening in their garden to grow her own vegetables, while William and Kate enjoyed a game of tennis on their newly-renovated tennis court.

William, having grown up in the public eye himself, is determined to shield his children from the media as much as he can. Hence, the family mostly stays in Norfolk, avoiding the limelight. However, they recently made a surprise visit to the Royal International Air Tattoo at Royal Air Force Fairford in Gloucestershire. The family had an incredible time touring the C-17 Globemaster III, which was used to fly Queen Elizabeth’s body back to London after her passing in Scotland in September 2022. The visit was not only educational but also supported a great cause, The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.

Kate’s ‘household rule’ is so strict George, Charlotte and Louis can’t break it

The Princess of Wales and Prince William have one firm household rule that their children George, Charlotte and Louis must stick to

With 2024 in full swing, your favourite royal, Prince and Princess of Wales, ware firmly getting back to work after their Christmas break.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have returned to Lambrook School for the winter term. The royal couple is now balancing their increased royal duties with raising their kids.

They are often spotted doing the school run both in the morning and afternoon. Although they have the assistance of a nanny, the Prince and Princess of Wales are still very hands-on with their children and enjoy engaging in fun activities with them such as bike riding and baking.

Prince William and Catherine have an unconventional approach to parenting, as they prefer to have a “sofa chat” with their children instead of resorting to punishment. When a child misbehaves, they are taken away from the situation and spoken to calmly by either Kate or William.

The parents then explain the situation and its consequences in detail and avoid shouting at the child. This method is not only effective in disciplining the child but also helps them to understand the situation better. Recently, the Wales family came back to their normal routine after celebrating Kate’s 42nd birthday. Although she loves to celebrate, it was a low-key affair, and according to a royal expert, her special day was spent with her family, without any fancy gifts.

Kate was born in 1982 and grew up in Bucklebury, Berkshire. She attended the prestigious private boarding school Marlborough College, and it was while studying art history at the University of St Andrews in Scotland that she met Prince William in 2001.

And it might have been that she headed back to her childhood village to mark turning 42, according to editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward. She told us: “Family life has always been central for the Princess of Wales and she loves an excuse to celebrate. Her 42nd birthday – her second as Princess of Wales – is a good reason to do so, but no details will be released. Traditionally the royals only celebrate milestone birthdays with the public so we might have to wait until Catherine is 45.
